Los vivos y los muertos
Manuel F. Contreras / 2024 / Colombia / 96 min.
Synopsis: This work is set between two cities separated by 10,000 kilometers – Bogota and Budapest – where Manuel begins the search for a half-brother about whom little is known in the family. This exploration leads him to navigate maternal and paternal bonds, unearth secrets, and ultimately accept this family meander as a structural part of his story. Arranged in chapters and set to the rhythm of boleros, classic merengues, and a repertoire of songs full of feeling, we accompany a hero as he reveals himself before the camera. We see Manuel and his siblings doubt, search, find, and digest inevitable situations. We accompany them in their determination, observing how their hesitations shape their personal relationships. Los vivos y los muertos reminds us that intimacy is not a situation that is simply captured or recorded. It is a process of total creation where the experience with the other is at the center of the narrative.
After the screening, a conversation will take place with Manuel F. Contreras, director of the film, and Gloria Ramirez, reiki master and expert in family constellations.
