The wait is over: Los Mirlos, undisputed icons of Amazonian cumbia and pioneers of a sound that blends tropical rhythms with psychedelic electric guitars, arrive for the first time with their full lineup in Medellín. The concert will take place on Wednesday, October 1 at 7:30 p.m. at the Teatro Pablo Tobón Uribe, and promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.

More than a concert, it will be a celebration of Amazonian music that has transcended borders and generations with classics such as La Danza de los Mirlos, Sonido Amazónico, and Eres mentirosa—songs that have accompanied the festivities and memories of several generations in Medellín, Colombia, and Latin America.

For the first time in the city with their full lineup, Los Mirlos will take the stage with seven musicians who turn every performance into a true ritual of energy, dance, and collective celebration. Their sound, which has transcended generations, blends the power of Amazonian cumbia with psychedelia-charged electric guitars and hypnotic rhythms that invite movement from the very first note.

This year, the band also made history by becoming the first Peruvian group to perform at the Coachella Festival, bringing the sound of the jungle to the epicenter of global music. Being at one of their concerts means experiencing an immersive journey: vibrant guitars, irresistible percussion, and a festive atmosphere where timeless classics come alive, making it impossible for anyone to stand still.

The Los Mirlos concert will also open the gathering Hablar con la selva, which will bring together artists, activists, and intellectuals to reflect on the cultural and ecological diversity of the tropical rainforest. It is also part of the Temporada Cultural Medellín: amor de mis amores, organized by the Promotora Cultural and Proantioquia, with the support of CoCrea, Codiscos, and the Teatro Pablo Tobón Uribe.

About Hablar con la selva

It is a gathering that brings together artists, activists, and intellectuals to reflect on the cultural and ecological diversity of the tropical rainforest through contemporary art, philosophy, and community creation.

Through conversations, performances, and lectures, the narratives of resistance in the face of geopolitical challenges and pressures on the Amazonian territory will be explored. The gathering aspires to be a catalyst for the creation of an artistic ecosystem committed to social and environmental justice, promoting a dialogue about the complexities of territorial defense, highlighting the role of art as a tool for social transformation and community empowerment.

Artists, leaders, researchers, and knowledge holders from several Latin American countries will share their experiences and visions through critical dialogue, as well as new possibilities for global challenges and contemporary artistic practices.
