We celebrate 45 years with three days of free admission
Enjoy workshops, guided tours, and outdoor cinema
We are getting ready to celebrate our 45th anniversary with three days of programming during which we will have free admission for all our visitors on Friday, August 25; Saturday, August 26; and Sunday, August 27. This is an invitation to experience the different artistic expressions that take place at the museum and celebrate together the transformative power of art in the city.
The MAMM was founded on August 24, 1978, by a group of artists and cultural promoters from the city. Its first venue was in Carlos E. Restrepo, and 15 years ago it moved to Ciudad del Río, where it has achieved generous growth thanks to the expansion completed in September 2015. To celebrate this anniversary, we have proposed an extensive program with free access for the entire city.
The programming includes activities inside and outside the Museum, including workshops, guided tours of the exhibitions, a concert with the Orquesta Filarmónica de Medellín, and two outdoor cinema screenings. There will be a wide range of workshops and guided tours on Saturday, August 26, and Sunday, August 27, which can be accessed freely with prior registration.
We will have outdoor cinema on Friday, August 25, presenting a cinema classic, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial by Steven Spielberg; and on Saturday, August 26, it will be the turn for Back to the Future by director Robert Zemeckis. Two “forty-something” films that are part of the cinema cycle 4 regalos, in which we will present four films that defined a generation.
This is an invitation for you to come with your family or friends and spend a weekend connected to the Museum. Additionally, we will have film programming during all 3 days that will include two other classic films: Alien, by director Ridley Scott, and The Shining, by Stanley Kubrick—the latter two will be shown at the MAMM Theater with paid tickets.
The programming for these three days is made possible thanks to the support of Sura, Celsa, Transmetano, Londoño Gómez, Celsia, Codiscos, Autolarte, Davivienda, Chef Burger, Huevos y Escobas, Postobón, and the Alcaldía de Medellín’s Dynamic Audience Development Program.
