Description

This course proposes a theoretical-practical journey through the field of political art and contemporary artivisms, understood not only as forms of denunciation, but as sensitive devices of thought, action and social transformation.

From a critical, situated, and Latin American perspective, the course explores how artistic practices—especially live arts, performance, urban actions, and hybrid languages—operate as symbolic technologies that challenge power, contest hegemonic narratives, and open possibilities for other possible worlds.

Session 1. What are we talking about when we talk about political art? Genealogies, ruptures and misunderstandings.

Session 2. Artivism and contemporary practices. Body, public space, performance and action.

Session 3. Art, pedagogy and memory. Creation as an ethical and political device.

Session 4. Artivist laboratory. Design of a situated action, gesture, or proposal.
