Bajo una lluvia ajena
Marta Hincapie Uribe / 2024 / Colombia / 84 min.
Synopsis: Bajo una lluvia ajena weaves a dialogue between images and stories where multiple immigrant voices and faces intertwine through video letters and postcards, creating an imaginary Tower of Babel. After 23 years, the director revisits footage she shot on analog film and proposes a play of gazes where she constructs a reflection across multiple time periods: the life of her grandfather, who emigrated to Europe in the 1920s; the present of people who send messages to their loved ones with their longing to return to their homelands in Morocco, Palestine, Colombia, and India; and the mythical text of a young Ghanaian man who is shipwrecked in the Mediterranean before reaching his destination. The film soars over the city of Vic in Catalonia amid the fog, pig slaughterhouses, human castles, and the idealization of the “country of the white people” that gradually cracks apart.
After the screening, a conversation will take place with Marta Hincapie Uribe, director, and Jeronimo Atehortua, producer, who will dialogue with artist Pablo Mora.
