What if Dr. Gabriel Antonio Goyeneche had been elected president of Colombia and his proposals had become reality? That is the starting point of the book Historia política poética posible de Colombia, a graphic novel composed of stories that interweave the magical, the surreal, the tragic, and the ingenious. A paved river, a lost alligator-man, a city intoxicated on chicha and champagne, and invasive species in the páramo are just some of the scenes that build this narrative universe from ideas as absurd as they are revealing.
In this conversation, we will discuss the creative process behind the book, the narrative work of Mauricio Misas in the chapter he wrote, the proposals of the fictional Goyeneche, and how Colombia has been portrayed in fiction and non-fiction. Additionally, the editorial experience of Malevo Editores will be shared, focused on new ways of telling the country’s history.
Guests
Mauricio Misas (author, professor, and editorial director at Universidad EIA), Juan Alonso (director of Malevo Editores), and David Cortés (editor).
Recommended audience
