Catapum. No tengo donde caer
Palu Abadía M. / 2022 / Colombia / 72 min.
Synopsis:From the Montes de María to New York, “Catapum” tells the story of three Afro-descendant women singers from different generations who found in Bullerengue a form of resistance, healing, and celebration of life. From their daily lives, their songs, and their territory, Ceferina Banquéz, Pabla Flores, and Carolina Oliveros share their stories, bringing to the stage themes such as oral tradition, identity, the sense of community, and belonging even in a foreign land. Their personal memories converge into a collective memory, offering a narrative of the Colombian armed conflict that honors the healing and reconciling power of music, especially bullerengue.
After the screening, a conversation will take place with Palu Abadía, director of the film. There will also be bullerengue musicians and singers for a bullerengue tribute to Ceferina Banquéz
