Construyamos un paisaje. Laboratory with David Guarnizo

INSCRIPCIONES CERRADAS

In this laboratory, we will explore some ideas around concepts such as landscape, territory, and nature, understanding them as cultural, artistic, and aesthetic constructions. With moments of dialogue and creation, participants will be able to build a personal project based on archive research, their own images, and aesthetic explorations with drawing and watercolor.

This formative space is aimed at people over 18 years of age. Ideal for those currently in an arts education program or who have prior experience with painting or photography.

About David Guarnizo

Contemporary artist, Specialist in Photography, and Master’s in Art Education graduate from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He is currently a candidate for the MFA in Photography and Film at Virginia Commonwealth University (USA). He has participated in group exhibitions such as Nuevos Nombres – Banco de la Republica (2018), and the Artecamara pavilion at the Bogota International Art Fair ARTBO in the 2010 and 2012 editions. In 2014, he held his first solo exhibition within the framework of the 15th Regional Artists’ Salons at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota, MAMBO.

He has won several distinctions, including: National Artistic Residencies Grant (2012), 15th Regional Artists’ Salons – Solo Exhibition Grant (2014), and Colombia-Mexico Artistic Residencies FONCA (2018) from the Ministry of Culture of Colombia, and ‘Independent Editorial Projects Grant 45 SNA.’ He was nominated for the II FUGA Young Art Prize in 2017, the same year he was part of the Flora Ars+Natura School through the Seinjet Grant. His work is part of art collections such as the Banco de la Republica de Colombia and the Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota.

David’s artistic practice stems from his physical relationship with the territory and the elements/concepts of line, limit, and border. His work reflects on representations in which landscape and biodiversity become staged scenarios where cultural constructions about material and immaterial wealth converge, taking shape through the symbolic format of the banknote or other numismatic creations. In parallel, David also explores artistic pedagogy and processes of transdisciplinary collective creation. He has been head of the educational departments at the Art and Numismatics Museums of the Banco de la Republica (2020-2022) and MAMBO (2015), and has also taught in the Art Faculties/Departments of the Universidad Nacional and the Universidad del Bosque.
