De vuelos y ascensiones. Special tour with mediators

This is a tour that invites us to look upward and also from above. Through the exhibition Juan Fernando Herrán. Materialidades y constelaciones, we will explore the structures — visible and invisible — that support what is elevated: from the physical to the symbolic. What keeps something in the air? What forces, materials or ideas allow for ascent?

During this reflective visit, we will move through different works by the artist to question what should fall and yet remains. We will shift perspectives: observing from below and also from a bird’s-eye view, as an exercise for thinking about the technologies, bodies and narratives that make flight possible. It will be a journey through heights, balances and resistances.

About the exhibition

Over the last thirty years, Juan Fernando Herrán has developed his work from extensive fieldwork, frequently carried out in the company of a camera and his notebooks; he has also grounded it in historical, sociological and anthropological research. His processes of transforming materials, as well as constructing images and structures, are rooted in those carried out by other human beings in their search for practical solutions and symbolic meaning.
