Attentive observation opens the possibility of being affected by what we see, favoring our sensitive understanding of reality and allowing us to experience drawing from its expressive and affective dimensions.
In this workshop, we will explore the basic tools of drawing and the creative faculties of graphite as both pencil and powder. We will also approach the use of different paper formats and sizes to perceive the body’s gestures that drawing allows, giving value to the transformation of lines and marks according to the space.
During the sessions, we will exercise active and attentive observation of reality, trying to set aside the premise of resemblance usually attributed to drawing and focusing on what the objects/figures evoke in each of us.
We will focus on approaching drawing through exercises that allow loosening of the hand, recognition of the tools, and the possibilities that each one offers on paper.
The goal of this session will be to stimulate observation in order to capture reality with exercises that allow us to dissolve the limits of the format and experience each participant’s own way of drawing.
Picking up from the stimulation of observation, body awareness while drawing, and the confidence to work on larger formats, in this session we will plan and create a large-format collaborative drawing using the techniques covered in the workshop. It will be the moment to experiment with the technique of graphite and turpentine painting, while also enabling group and collaborative composition.
