Estancia
Andrés Carmona Rivera / 2024 / Colombia / 85 min.
In an old mansion in Parque Bolívar, in downtown Medellín, a group of characters lives their lives in a confinement that became even more crushing due to the COVID-19 pandemic. They are older adults, among them a “couple” of three gay men. This documentary listens to and observes them, capturing their theater of everyday gestures that carry a heavy history on their shoulders. La Estancia is not a home with the weight of order and respectability attributed to that word. It is a place to be and to persist, where an atypical, conflictive, and endearing community is founded, removed from any discipline or classification.
Recommended audience
Film enthusiasts, general public, people interested in documentary cinema, sexual diversity, and contemporary urban and social narratives.
