Guided tour of the exhibition Khoka Project
Participate in a special tour alongside Daniel Montoya, producer and researcher of the Khoka Project team. The tour takes place on the day of the Festival Futuro Coca, which in its second edition will be held at Bodega Comfama (Medellín).
Khoka Project will participate in the event with the screening of a video.
About the exhibition
The exhibition traces the complex relationship that humans have woven with the coca plant through time. This species has been demonized and nearly condemned to extinction due to the so-called war on drugs and the inherent prejudice that does not allow differentiating the extracted alkaloid, as a psychoactive substance, from the khoka, a medicinal plant that is highly nutritious and revered as sacred by indigenous communities and ancient civilizations of South America.
About the Festival
The Festival Futuro Coca is a cultural event and a space for dialogue, enjoyment, and reflection that brings together initiatives from diverse disciplines, knowledge systems, and practices around the ancestral, scientific, and artistic knowledge of the coca plant, including its alternative uses and applications. The goal is to destigmatize the plant and change the narratives imposed by drug trafficking and violence, promoting renewed discourses that allow us to imagine possible futures from its medicinal, ancestral, symbolic, spiritual, social, cultural, artistic, industrial, and nutritional dimensions.
