International Museum Day is an event promoted by the International Council of Museums – ICOM – celebrated every year on May 18. This celebration is an opportunity to reflect on the role that these cultural institutions play in society to enhance cultural exchange and the strengthening of the social fabric in communities, in accordance with ICOM’s own declaration.
During this event, museums around the world organize activities and events to invite their audiences to connect with art in pursuit of building a more conscious, sensitive, and sustainable world. Last year, 37,000 museums took part in the event across 158 countries and territories.
International Museum Day 2024 focuses on the theme of education and research, underscoring the importance of expanding educational processes beyond classrooms and into city venues to provide a more inclusive educational experience that fosters curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking.
We join ICOM’s invitation, recognizing that “from art and history to science and technology, museums are vital spaces where education and research converge to shape our understanding of the world,” with a free admission day on Saturday, May 18. We invite you to discover our program:
