As part of the celebration of the Museum’s 45th anniversary, we will have a wide range of workshops and tours through our exhibitions, in which you can participate freely with prior registration.
Did you know that a notebook is the evolution of what used to be a chest? Storing, preserving, recording, and protecting – these were some of the needs that gave rise to books and notebooks.
In this workshop, we will explore the traditional technique known as Japanese binding, which is a method of artisanal bookbinding with exposed stitching, and we will discuss the characteristics of paper, adhesives, stitching, and binding. We will also discuss the ways in which one thinks about and deposits information in a notebook, its structural possibilities and metaphysical possibilities, the value of the book object seen from contemporary philosophy, its design, binding, and how we can experiment with other possibilities for recording.
We invite you to check out the program so you can join us in this celebration where art takes center stage.
