Synopsis: Twenty years ago, the Palenquero village of La Bonga received a threat signed by paramilitary groups. That same night, everyone left determined never to return, and over time La Bonga was devoured by the jungle. María has been the only person to return, but many believe she is crazy and putting her life at risk. Today, María leads more than 300 people during the first collective return to La Bonga, for an enormous celebration.
La Bonga is a symbolic journey through the mountains of the Colombian Caribbean to resurrect a place that only exists in their memories. In an act of resistance, this celebration releases what was lost while celebrating their memory and their community.
After the screening, a conversation will take place with Sebastián Pinzón and Canela Reyes, directors of the film, and Marta Hincapié, filmmaker and educator
