“El tigre no es como lo pintan” is a popular saying that refers to the false appearance of things. Borrowing from it, we will open an invitation to converse about the influence of nail art in the present and its pictorial possibilities; in addition, we will connect with some works and themes from the exhibition La buena vida, while experimenting with different traditional polish application techniques such as blending or ombre effect, color blocking, strokes and arabesques, and even watercolors and encapsulation.
This will be a gathering to engage in conversations around do-it-yourself, self-care rituals, design as a political gesture, and cultural identity; enabling the free circulation of knowledge and the practice of an ancient craft.
