Brujas is the first feminist magazine of Medellin, and published its first edition in 1982. The magazine was born as a written and graphic expression by women that offered a space for the word, to express the questions and difficulties that women faced in the search for their identity as human beings with full political rights, equality, and recognition in a patriarchal society.
The publication had seven issues between September 1982 and September 1987. Each issue gathered an average of 14 texts including short stories, essays, testimonies, poems, interviews, lectures, academic articles, and reports. Numerous photographs, caricatures, comic strips, reproductions of paintings and sculptures, and other graphic formats were also part of the magazine.
In this express editorial workshop, we will come together to converse and create an analog mock-up fanzine that integrates our voices, questions, and diverse positions about what has led us to name ourselves and live as feminists. Through written words, drawings, comic strips, or collage, we will share what comes from deep within in relation to the current challenges and debates of feminisms and our own experiences.
This activity is part of the Dynamic Audience Development Strategy of the Secretariat of Citizen Culture of the Mayor’s Office of Medellin
