Let’s talk about the exhibition Cantándole a las plantas

Every other Thursday at 4:30 p.m. we will meet on our Instagram account to converse with curator Cristina Vasco and learn more about the exhibition Cantandole a las plantas by artist Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa, his motivations, and the secrets behind his work.

There will be 6 sessions where we will address topics related to the internal conflict in Guatemala, the repercussions of war and exile, the relationship between banana plantations and conflict in some Latin American countries, among other topics that intertwine with the artist’s life experience.

About the exhibition

Naufus Ramirez-Figueroa. Cantandole a las plantas
It is an anthological exhibition and the first solo show by the Guatemalan artist in South America; it is presented in two spaces: Museo de Arte Moderno de Bogota -MAMBO- and Museo de Arte Moderno de Medellin -MAMM-. This show covers nearly 22 years of the career of this artist who has been interested in addressing topics such as colonialism and the presence of power structures in Latin America, conflict and its personal and social consequences, and the political dimension of plants. The review of Naufus’s work includes Cantandole a las plantas, a work that connects both shows and derives from the artist’s recent research in the jungles of the Colombian Pacific.
