Marica negra. Musical conversation with LoMaasBello

This conversation with LoMaasBello, mediated by some of their songs, is a space for listening and understanding to discover new places of enunciation, representation, and encounter. Marica negra is, like their first album, a signal to converse about identity and resistance.

This musical conversation, held in partnership with Comfama, is proposed within the framework of the Festival Actuar por lo vivo, as a lead-up activity to LoMaasBello’s concert on Friday, May 10 at 8 p.m. at Bodega Comfama.

About LoMaasBello

Afro trans artivist, originally from Buenaventura and based in Bogota. They use music and rhymes as resistance to express the experiences of bodies that escape the norm. They have made music as a solo artist and audiovisual pieces over the last 3 years, collaborating with artists like Cawd Slaydaz from Amsterdam and artistic activism collectives like Posa Suto and SantaFilms in Colombia.

Their influences range from the rhythms of the Colombian Pacific and hip hop to reggaeton, which has allowed them to experiment with diverse languages in creating their musical sound and song lyrics. This mix of musical genres, territoriality, racialization, and their own diverse perception of gender has allowed LoMaasBello to create songs like ShutUp, which addresses topics such as the right to construct oneself as a diverse person and respect for trans identity, Token$ which discusses webcam sex work, and Pensandote where they show a more romantic and relaxed side.
