Synopsis: The body of a decapitated man is dragged by the Magdalena River, arrives in Puerto Berrio, and is buried as another unidentified person. In the town, people have begun adopting them; the cemetery has filled with headstones bearing the word “chosen,” naming the unknown dead as if they were their own. But the “headless man” generates fear among the townspeople – they know it is forbidden to pull dismembered bodies from the river and they dare not touch him. A man known as the “Animero,” the one in charge of taking the cemetery souls out for a walk, approaches the grave and marks the headstone. He then makes a pact with his soul: he will risk his life and travel to the deepest region to search for the head and restore dignity to the corpse.
