Synopsis: In Venezuela, large gold reserves lie hidden beneath “moriche” palm trees, attracting crowds of miners. A narrator travels from distant mines in the jungle to the banks of the Orinoco River, trying to understand the miner’s uncertain fortune. His reflections blend with illustrations and photochemical paintings that trace a map of gold mining and commercialization in Venezuela, while questioning humanity’s extractive relationship with nature.
After the screening, a conversation will take place with Chris Gude, director of the film, and Juli Zapata Rincón, curator and teacher.
