In indigenous communities, art is a vehicle for memory, spirituality, and connection with nature. In this workshop, guided by Kamëntšá artist Eliana María Muchachasoy Chindoy, we will explore the relationship between art, territory, and sacred plants through a creative exercise using natural yagé dye.
We will have the opportunity to discover the visual universe of the Kamëntšá community, reflect on the sacred in different cultures, harmonize materials and space, and create a drawing with dyes from ancestral medicine. This experience seeks to open a dialogue between indigenous tradition and the urban context, inviting us to think of art as a form of resistance, healing, and transmission of knowledge.
The workshop develops skills in critical analysis regarding the use of medicinal plants in indigenous communities, the symbolic representation of the sacred, and cultural appropriation.
