Within the framework of the exhibition La belleza será convulsa o no será, the erotic forms that characterize the iconography of Baroque art and their possible connections with some works of contemporary art will be examined. Some of the topics to be discussed include: staging in the Baroque and its maneuvers to captivate the viewer of the work; the wound that is violent and at the same time beautiful and melancholic; beauty that disconcerts: dramatic and sinister; the art-historical references that are gradually revealed through certain contemporary aesthetics; montage as a strategy to enable theatricality; the aesthetic experience in the present.
This conversation will feature Jaime Borja, full professor in the Department of History and Geography at the Faculty of Social Sciences of the Universidad de los Andes, and Camilo Castaño, artist and curator. Admission will be free.
