About Correspondences
It is a constantly evolving project between Soundwalk Collective and Patti Smith. Over more than 10 years, it has traversed a vast range of geographies and their natural environments, where the artists have discovered sonic traces left by poets, filmmakers, revolutionaries and the impact of climate change.
About Soundwalk Collective
Founded in New York in 2000 by Stephan Crasneanscki and Simone Merli, Soundwalk Collective is an artistic collective that merges anthropological research, non-linear narratives, and psychogeographic explorations. Their work combines tactile and poetic sonic elements to create works that explore memory, time, and love.
Throughout their career, they have collaborated with iconic artists such as Philip Glass, Nan Goldin, Jean Luc Godard, Wim Wenders, Charlotte Gainsbourg, and Werner Herzog. Their projects have been presented at emblematic venues such as the Barbican Centre in London, the Opera National de Lyon, the Centre Pompidou in Paris, and the Venice Biennale, among others.
Among their notable creations is the triptych Perfect Vision, inspired by the poetry of Rimbaud, Artaud, and Daumal, which gave rise to the exhibition Evidence. This work reaffirms the collective’s ability to connect the poetic and the sonic with deep and immersive narratives.
