Participate in a special gathering alongside Antioqueño artist Fredy Alzate on Thursday, March 20, around the work of Juan Fernando Herrán. From 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., there will be a lecture in the Hall of the Centro Cultural del Banco de la República in Parque Berrío, where the work Héroes Mil is on display. We will then tour the exhibition at MAMM, Juan Fernando Herrán. Materialidades y constelaciones, from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., both with free admission.
Fredy Alzate holds a master’s degree in Visual and Fine Arts and reflects on unbridled urbanism, resourcefulness in contingent situations and the emergence of dwelling in Latin American cities. Join him in this conversation and tour to delve deeper into the work of Juan Fernando Herrán through his perspective.
About Juan Fernando Herrán. Materialidades y constelaciones
This is a selection of works by Juan Fernando Herrán created since the late 1990s, and includes earlier works that share illuminating formal and thematic interests. A significant number of the works were conceived and produced during the artist’s long stays in Medellín, which brought him closer to the social and urban complexity of the city. The exhibition additionally presents sketches, records, drawings and maquettes that allude to different stages of the processes carried out by the artist, which culminate in photographs, sculptures and videos. Each of the works suggests questions that reveal human, sociopolitical and economic conditions and needs, as well as spiritual and existential realities.
