In this talk, Sylvia Juliana Suárez Segura will address the artistic consecration of Débora Arango in the 1940s and 1950s, exploring the micropolitical character of her work and the way her images challenged the social and cultural norms of her time.
About Sylvia
Sylvia Juliana Suárez Segura (Bogotá, 1981) is an artist, art historian, curator, and educator. Her work has focused on the history of art in Colombia and Latin America, and on the connections between artistic experimentation, education, and the building of citizenship. She has been an assistant professor in the Department of Visual Arts at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana since 2020 and is currently Director of the Visual Arts Program at the same institution.
