MAMUT is a meeting point and forum for debate about the use and preservation of archival images. From Tuesday, October 8 to Saturday, October 12, it will offer films, workshops and talks at different venues in Medellín, reflecting on the recycling of images and the infinite possibilities of reuse in a context of overproduction.
See the program at MAMM:
MATERIAL BRUTO SILENTE is a screening of unedited footage (rushes) from Colombian cinema. Filming as a poetics of stammering: images as incomplete signs, in latency, ready to unleash themselves as stray clues. Each roll of footage is conceived as the possibility of an instantaneous phrase made of conjectures and attempts, repetitions and variations. The filmmaker’s way of revealing their movement and their center.
Guest: Felipe Guerrero (filmmaker and program curator)

In every story, as in every past, silence is the guardian of secrets. It protects what must not be revealed, whether out of fear or shame. Sometimes silence takes root until it becomes habit, but every secret always pulsates like a ghost: it is present even in its absence. Emely Vargas was a forgotten diva of Colombian silent cinema, surrounded by the intrigue of an erased past. Today, her story peers out from scattered archives and blurry presences, diffuse figures still tied to her name.
