Description

During this tour of Open Signal: Languages of Contemporary Art, we will explore works that invite us to reflect on modern Latin American art and its drive to redefine itself in the face of hegemonic European and North American narratives. Within this context, a generation of artists developed practices and processes rooted in their own realities, questioning the established order and experimenting with new ways of producing and understanding art in Latin America.

Throughout the visit, we will explore strategies such as the use of emerging technologies in the 1980s, the centrality of the body and its social struggles, and the appropriation of the urban landscape as a critical space. As part of the experience, we will create a photogram on photosensitive paper, establishing a dialogue between those past explorations and our own practice in the present.
