Description

The course proposes a journey through the work of Beatriz González, a Colombian artist who for more than 60 years used art to reflect on what was happening in the country. Through paintings, altered furniture, and other works, he looked with irony and a critical eye at issues such as violence, losses caused by war, migrations, environmental crises, and human vulnerability in the face of tragedy. The course will explain why her work is so important, what questions guided her, and how to understand her images in relation to the history of Colombia. It will also address lesser-known aspects of her work, such as her research on the history of art in the country and her work with archives, based on the direct experience of the teacher, who worked closely with the artist since 2016.

Session 1: A Provincial Artist
Session 2: The press as a means of investigation and creation
