An audiovisual and filmic performance that reinterprets materials from the research for the making of the film Bienvenidos Conquistadores Interplanetarios y del Espacio Sideral, a film that addresses the space race and the conquest of space that renewed colonial and imperial discourses and practices. The presentation proposes reading this event from the third world, “upside down” and “turned on its head,” dismantling imaginaries of the jungle and nature installed by that imperial vision of the planet and by the cartographic theaters of the colonial centuries.
The concert is composed of pieces by Jacqueline Nova, by Ana María Romano G, optical sounds from 16mm projectors, a suite by musician and astronomer John Herschell reinterpreted on synthesizers by Andrés Silva, Emberá and Chocó chants, poems by Wilson Harris & Gil Scott-Heron, among other disparate, sidereal, anti-imperialist, and anti-colonial archives and sonorities.
With the participation of Ana María Romano, Andrés Jurado, and Andrés Silva, pieces by Jacqueline Nova, and filmic and sound archives that were part of the research for making the film Bienvenidos Conquistadores Interplanetarios y del Espacio Sideral, directed by Andrés Jurado and produced by María Rojas Arias & La Vulcanizadora.
About the guests
Composer, sound-interdisciplinary artist, teacher and Colombian researcher. Her work explores the relationship between sound and technology from the perspectives of listening, the body, space, gender, improvisation and experimentation. She has worked with acoustic and electroacoustic media in installations, video, performing arts and radio. Her works have been presented in the Americas, Europe and Asia.
She coordinates the Feminist Platform En Tiempo Real, teaches at the Universidad El Bosque and is co-founder of Paisajistas Sonoras, redcLa and GexLat. She has researched Jacqueline Nova and the presence of women in Latin American electronic music.
Artist, director, filmmaker and Colombian researcher. His work interweaves archive, science fiction, memory and politics from an anticolonial and experimental perspective. He is co-founder of La Vulcanizadora and has developed projects that circulate between cinema, live arts and installation.
He was part of the Forensic Architecture team in the investigation and exhibition Traces of Disappearance, which addressed land dispossession, disappearance and deforestation in Colombia, in collaboration with the Truth Commission of Colombia. He has been selected by the Museo Reina Sofía, DocLisboa and FIDMarseille for the Joaquim Jordà 2025 residency. His film Bienvenidos Conquistadores Interplanetarios y del Espacio Sideral has been presented at numerous international festivals and will be screened at MAMM during June and July 2025.
Sound Supervisor, sound designer and co-founder of La Tina. His creative approach, technical criteria and ability to imagine unique soundscapes have made him a key figure in diverse projects. With a sensitive and experimental eye, he transforms sound into an unforgettable sensory experience.
Studio of artists and filmmakers María Rojas Arias and Andrés Jurado, where cinema, visual arts and theater converge. Their projects address memory, archive, science fiction and the politics of the image from a critical and experimental perspective.
