Digital art surrounds us: from images generated by artificial intelligence to virtual museums and interactive works. But how did we get here? What ideas, technologies, and disruptions made this visual and algorithmic present possible?
Fantasmas Digitales is a short course that offers an accessible and stimulating introduction to contemporary digital art, its key concepts, and its recent history. Through a presentation accompanied by images, iconic works, and cultural references, we will explore how art has been transformed in dialogue with technologies such as programming, artificial intelligence, and augmented reality.
The journey is complemented by a guided visit to the exhibition Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad, activating a critical and sensitive experience in front of the works, their materials, their languages, and their technological echoes.
Aimed at
Curious people interested in art, culture and technology who wish to understand how digital tools have transformed artistic creation in the contemporary world. No prior experience in art history or technical knowledge is required: this is a clear, engaging and visually stimulating introduction designed for a general audience.

Esteban Gutiérrez Jiménez is co-curator of the exhibition Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad. Artist and Doctor in Art and Architecture. Professor in the Master’s in Digital Arts at ITM. Author of the book Caminos de la creación digital: arte y computación (2021).
