Génesis en azul. Cyanotype workshop

Cyanotype is a photographic printing technique that produces monochromatic blue-toned images through the use of photosensitive chemicals — primarily ammonium ferric citrate and potassium ferricyanide — applied onto surfaces such as paper or fabric. These are exposed to ultraviolet light, usually from the sun, and the illuminated areas react to form an insoluble blue pigment known as Prussian blue, which is revealed upon contact with water.

In this cyanotype workshop, we will explore the use of photosensitive materials as a gesture of curiosity and transformation. Through practice and conversation, we will approach the idea of non-immediacy as a form of alchemy for producing images, reflecting on other poetics of image and time.

This gathering arises from the dialogue between the exhibitions Señal abierta. Lenguajes del arte actual and Bubuia. Aguas como fuente de imaginaciones y deseos, where vegetation, image, and memory/archive intertwine to propose new ways of looking and remembering.
