Mi bestia. Screening with conversation

Rebels in music, film, and social media

“The affective is conspiratorial; that is why it disturbs.” The transformation a woman undergoes when she leaves childhood and enters adolescence can mean the loss of freedom. When does our freedom slip away from us? Rebellion in music and film brings us closer to breaking molds, taking charge of our freedom, and recognizing the need to create alongside other women. Sharing affections and closeness opens a space for us to celebrate the creative force that arises when we generate connections between people, ideas, and emotions, creating memories that are shared and transmitted. Lianna, Monica from IRA, Laura, and Camila immerse us in a conversation through the affections, collaborations, and disagreements throughout their artistic and creative processes.

Mi bestia
Camila Beltran / 2024 / Colombia-France / 75 min.

Bogota, 1996. The population is in panic; the devil will arrive during an approaching lunar eclipse. Mila, 13 years old, feels that the gaze of others upon her becomes increasingly suffocating. She wonders if the metamorphosis of her body has something to do with the prophecy. The dreaded day arrives, and the red moon illuminates the sky.

After the screening, a conversation will take place with Camila Beltran, director; Lianna, artist and singer; Monica Moreno, member of the band IRA, along with Laura Benitez, founder of the group Wikigrillas.
