Mateo López presented his installation titled Constellations, a novel work comprised of drawings, sculptures, and an animation—the latter a new element in his practice.
For the first time in this space, a selection of previous and recent works were brought together in dialogue. These pieces were revealed as fragments, moments from life within the artist’s studio that, like an open, deconstructed book, appeared to be disassembled. Thus, he created connections or associations between these different fragments, much like drawing a constellation. He suggested exploring etymological roots, the interplay of opposites, the paradox of the organic and geometry, time, and utopia; hence, the observer’s task is to explore, assemble, and think in terms of image.
