Exhibition openings

We invite you to be part of the opening of three new exhibitions starting Wednesday, March 12 at 5:00 p.m.

Discover Juan Fernando Herran. Materialidades y constelaciones, a selection of works by the artist created since the 1990s that reveal human, sociopolitical, and economic conditions and needs, as well as spiritual and existential realities; Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad, a group exhibition that proposes a critical reflection on modernity and its narratives, exploring their echoes in contemporaneity; and Umbral de resonancia, an installation that reflects on biodiversity from an eco-acoustic perspective, understanding the soundscape as the result of the interaction between diverse species and their environment.

The opening will consist of several sessions of encounters, conversations, and tours around the exhibitions.

Program

Wednesday, March 12. Opening at 5:00 p.m. Free admission. MAMM

In this session, we will converse with Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás and Esteban Gutiérrez Jiménez, curators of the group exhibition Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad, and María Margarita Malagón and Juan Fernando Herrán, curator and artist of the exhibition Materialidades y constelaciones.

Thursday, March 13. Admission with box office payment. MAMM

During this gathering, attendees will be invited to identify illuminating aspects of the processes and works that allow us to recognize key contributions of Juan Fernando Herrán’s art to the understanding of socio-political and existential realities of the human being. Through a dialogue between the artist, the curator and the visitors, we will focus on significant moments in the processes involved in generating two constellations of works: the first configured around material cultures and their relationship with sociological and existential dimensions, and the second centered on issues of domination and power, both physical and symbolic.

Free admission with prior registration. ITM

In this session, we will meet with the artists featured in the exhibition Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad, Lívia Nolasco-Rózsás, Felix Kobenstain, Jeremy Bailey, Damjanski, FABRIC/CH, Carolyn Kirschner, and Esteban Gutiérrez Jiménez, in the seminar of the Master’s in Digital Arts (MAD), an academic space that brings together disciplinary experts and researchers in sessions for presenting research-creation projects. Register here.

Friday, March 14. Admission with ticket purchase at the box office. MAMM

Guided tours of the exhibition Invocando los fantasmas de la modernidad, with curator Esteban Gutiérrez Jiménez and local artists from the exhibition.
